Natural monuments has the ambition to turn Marker Wadden into a large archipelago of 10,000 hectares, which will be constructed with sand, clay and silt from the Markermeer. Together with Rijkswaterstaat, nature in the Markermeer will be restored and new living space will be created for birds and fish, but also for people who can get a breath of fresh air here. The Haveneiland is open to the public. The island is still under development. The four island houses will be available for rental next spring, when the ferry that regularly brought visitors to the island until last month will also resume sailings.
