You cycle along the IJssel out of Deventer. Via the manor houses Nieuw Rande and De Haere you drive to the village of Olst, where you cross with the IJsselveer. You follow the river further north past the dike village of Veessen with a mill and river port. Here you can take a ferry across to Fortmond, a beautiful nature reserve intersected by old watercourses. You can enjoy a magnificent view from the lookout tower. From the beautiful old village of Wijhe you follow the bank again. A bicycle ferry makes a trip to the picturesque town of Hattem (Anton Pieck Museum) possible. Zwolle is reached largely over traffic-free dike paths, along natural floodplains and the former Windesheim monastery, surrounded by a moat. With the Museum de Fundatie, an art loop route, the Broerenkerk alias the 'book church' and excellent restaurants, this attractive Hanseatic city has put itself on the cultural and culinary map.
