Today you cycle across 't Stift in Weerselo. In the 12th century, the Benedictines built an abbey here, later converted into a monastery for wealthy noble ladies. The beautiful Stiftkerk, built from Bentheim sandstone, can be visited. Shortly afterwards you cycle past the originally 14th-century Havezathe Herinckhave and past one of the oldest trees in the Netherlands: the Kroezeboom, with its chapel where religious services were once held.
